In 2019, many of my friends and family began their driving lessons. Prices were remarkably low, with some instructors offering lessons at £10 per session for the first ten lessons. At the time, I couldn't afford lessons, and I didn't urgently need a car, so I decided to wait.

📈Rising Costs and Uncertain Choices

By 2021, nearly everyone around me had their driving license. It felt like the right time for me to start lessons too. However, the landscape had changed. Lesson prices had tripled to £30 per session, likely due to inflation and pandemic-related disruptions.

The recommendations I received from friends and family were underwhelming: instructors were described as "okay," "decent," or "worth it at the old price." At these inflated rates, the value just didn't add up, and I decided to delay my lessons again.

In 2022, I realized I couldn't delay any longer. I turned to the internet to find a driving instructor, but the process was a frustrating mess:

• Sketchy profiles with just a name and phone number
• No reliable reviews or trust indicators

Every step felt like an uphill battle:

• Manual or automatic?
• Are they in my area?
• What do they charge?
• Male or female instructor?

Each call felt like rolling the dice on £30 an hour. Eventually, I found an instructor who met my needs, and by early 2023, I passed my driving test. But this frustrating experience planted the seed for The Driving Instructor Directory.

In 2024, I set out to build a platform that would revolutionize the way students find driving instructors. My goals were clear:

• Advanced filters to narrow down choices effortlessly.
• Transparent instructor profiles with reviews and pricing upfront.
• A streamlined, hassle-free booking experience.

I built The Driving Instructor Directory as something I would have wanted to use myself when I was learning to drive.

• Instructors can create professional profiles to attract students for FREE.

Right now, the platform remains completely free for both students and instructors, despite operational costs. My mission is to keep it that way for as long as possible.
